
Alexis Befeno is the Founder and Managing Partner of AB Finance, an independent advisory firm focused on M&A, structured finance and impact-driven capital mobilisation across Africa, Madagascar and the Indian Ocean. He brings nearly 20 years of experience in investment banking and development finance, with a strong focus on frontier markets and complex financial structuring.
He started his career at Rothschild & Co in Paris, advising on European, cross-border and emerging market M&A transactions, before working with IFC — World Bank Group — and Proparco, the French development finance institution dedicated to private sector financing. His expertise covers debt, equity, infrastructure advisory and structured transactions across sectors including infrastructure, financial institutions, insurance, energy, industrial platforms and impact businesses.
He is also Partner and Chief Investment Officer of the Mitsiry Biodiversity & Climate Fund, targeting a USD 50 million closing, and Chairman of the FAPBM (Foundation for Protected Areas and Biodiversity in Madagascar) Investment Committee, contributing to asset allocation decisions across bonds, equities, alternative assets and impact investments for a USD 160 million African biodiversity endowment fund supporting protected areas in Madagascar.
